SB 574 Motorcycle Lane Sharing Bill VETOED by Governor Brown!

SB-574 (Motorcycle Lane Sharing) has been vetoed by Governor Kate Brown despite wide bi-partisan support in the House and the Senate.  The governor cited “safety concerns” for riders and car drivers.  She also stated “non-compliance” worries that riders would not adhere to the narrow provisions of the bill.

–  Allows for motorcycles to lane share (filter/split) using the space between adjacent lanes of traffic during periods of heavy congestion (with specific limitations)

BILLS WE’RE TRACKING:

HB 2538

– Modifies requirements for motor vehicle exhaust systems
BikePAC worked with the legislature to exempt motorcycle from new exhaust requirements.

SB 166

Requires use of motor vehicle headlights at all times when vehicle is being driven on highway.
